| All India Services Pre- Examination Training Centre for SC/ST was set up in the University under the scheme of Government of India (Now under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment) in 1982. Another Centre of Preparation for Competitive Examinations (CPCE), financed by the University itself, was set up in 1984 for the candidates of general category alongwith the other centre. At present the staff of the Centre includes the following: 1. Director: Dr. Jagroop Singh Sekhon,Professor, Department of Political Science 2. Lecturer in Geography: Mrs divjot Kaur Sandhu In addition the centre engages about 25 teachers of the University and local colleges for teaching on lecture basis. The Centre offers coaching for the following examinations:
Since the inception of the Centre many students have been selected for Indian Administrative Services and Allied Services. Besides that a large number of students of the centre have been selected in Banks and Subordinate services ,Central Excise & Customs, Public Sector units, Border Security Force, Central & State Education Department and LIC etc. Thus the success rate of the Centre is quite high. Four students of this centre - Saif Ghuman , Chandni Malik, Uma Sharma, Jaspreet Kaur have cleared the JRF Examination held in June, 2010 and 16 student of this Centre Akash Garg, Savjot Singh, Rajinder Singh, Karanjit Singh, Sukhnandan Singh, Satinder Pal Sokhi, Gurinder Singh, Kanwaldeep Singh , Mamta Kumari, Sumit Kumar, Hardev Singh, Minakshi, Abhishek Ratan, Baljinder Kaur, Garish Kumar, Amrinder Singh have cleared P.C.S (Judicial) Preliminary Examination held in Aug., 2010 |
